About: I am interested in analysing mathematical behaviour of people in various cognitive, cultural, linguistic environments. e-learning of mathematics provides a new testing ground for the old nature/nurture debate so prominent in fights around dyslexia. I am mathematician; in my teaching of mathematics, I was using CAL since 1995 -- when the term CAL was perhaps non-existent. I was always puzzled by the level of computerphobia among students of mathematics.

I watch, with ever increasing fascination, the e-learning bandwagon blissfully rolling in a quagmire of a dyslexia type. I believe that, in e-learning studies, a careful analysis of failures is much more important -- and more interesting -- than any number of success stories.
