Open Day image   The Lab Group held its first annual open day on 6 July 2004 at HP Labs in Bristol to bring together IT and education experts to explore how information and communications technologies (ICT) can transform the learning landscape.

The Open Day - co-chaired by Ultralab's Professor Stephen Heppell and Birkbeck's Dr Sara de Freitas - provided a forum for 10 organisations to give presentations about their work, and promote discussion about new research and development with colleagues from other labs and from the wider UK academic and industrial community. Presentations were given by a range of specialist and academic research centres and labs.

Dr Sara de Freitas says, "The day provided a fantastic opportunity for the research and development community to get together to explore future collaboration and to showcase the exciting and innovative projects that are being developed in the UK to a wide audience including government, industry and academic representatives.   Open Day image
From educational multimedia games to interactive musical interfaces, from innovative mobile campus technology to interactive visual databases, the UK academic and industrial communities lead the world in promoting creativity in ICT development and education."
